When it comes to success in fitness, knowledge is power! Too often people look for the quickest and easiest way to lose weight or get fit, without really getting educated on health and wellness.

The media is flooded with fad diets, trendy workout videos, and home equipment that promise unrealistic results and promising to “get you there”. But what is “there”?

At Fitness Together we say “wellness is a way, not a place.” Don’t cut out entire food groups or spend way too much on home equipment because you’re trying to arrive at that dream body. Instead, think about how you want to feel every single day. Think about better choices, balancing your lifestyle, and finding ways to make being healthy fun for you.

But most importantly… EDUCATE YOURSELF! So many trends out there are unhealthy and not safe. But if you have a good foundation of knowledge, you’ll be able to stay in control and see the results you want to see.

If you are unfamiliar with how to exercise or eat properly for your goals, I recommend you call a personal trainer and a dietitian.

When you get a personal trainer it doesn’t mean you have to have one for life! You’re not officially “defeated” because you cannot do it on your own! Look at it this way: Even in just a few short months with a personal trainer you will learn so much about realistic wellness practices and you’ll see real and permanent results. After that you’ll feel more comfortable in a gym, you’ll be able to put yourself through a tough in-home workout, and you’ll make better choices when you grocery shop or dine out.
