The Truth About Weight Loss

With the new year right around the corner majority of people will be looking to get back into shape and to lose weight. Instead of trying a new fad diet or weight loss supplement that says it will help you lose 5 lbs. in 5 days., try making a lifestyle change to lose the weight the right way and to keep it off.

The best way to lose weight is by incorporating a healthy eating regimen, resistance , and cardiovascular training program. Those are the three main components that will help you lose weight and to keep it off. If you have little or no knowledge on how to set up any of those three components I advise that you seek out a health professional or registered dietician to set one up for you.

The last thing is to not set yourself up for failure, many people set unrealistic goals for themselves when trying to lose weight. Remember that the weight gain didn’t come on over night so we shouldn’t expect for it to come off over night. A great goal to set for ourselves is to lose 1-2 lbs. a week, if we are losing more than that you may be doing something extreme in either you diet or exercise regimen that may show immediate results but not long term. A healthy way to set up a weight loss program is by determining how much weight you want to lose and divide it by two so that you are not losing weight too quickly. For example if you want to lose 20 lbs. at the beginning of the new year, your goal shouldn’t take no longer than 20 weeks and no shorter that 10 weeks to reach. This is a safe and effective way to set up a weight loss program.
